Relay For Life began in the USA in May 1985 when colorectal surgeon, Dr. Gordy Klatt, wanted to raise awareness of cancer and boost the income of his local cancer charity. Since then, RFL has become the largest fundraising event for cancer in the world.
The region’s first-ever Relay For Life launched in 2017 under the directives of Shaikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Founder and Patron of the Friends of Cancer Patients.
